I realized it's been a while since I've written to myself on this blog and I felt a little lonely.
I had a great hunting season this year. I was able to take a nice mule deer in Montana and a few animals in Texas. But the highlight of the season was when my daughter Alexis took her first deer. It was an amazing experience and watching her and her excitement was the best. We stalked a lot of deer during the day trying to get her inside her comfort zone shooting her .243. That was inside 150yds. We had spent a lot of time shooting (about 6 boxes just the week before!) and I knew she was capable of a good shot if she could calm her nerves. As luck would have it, we chased this guy for a couple of miles and finally we were able to get her at 110 yds from him. One shot and he dropped 5 ft from where she hit him. It was amazing. My only regret was that I didn't video the experience. Take a look and see if that smile is as great as I thought it was. I think I have a new partner in crime! Being able to take the kids is not only fun but it makes it easier for me to sneak out. What a good time! To top it all off it was on the anniversary of my Dad's passing. I decided that every year I was going to go out and do something fun that we enjoyed doing together. I don't think I could've written this day any better!
Now it's time to get on the river on the warm days (over 30). I have a couple of new Sage rods on the way so I'll tell myself about them after I fish them a few times. Maybe I'll learn something from myself!
