Sage TCX

So I finally got out and fished a little last week. When I wasn't trying to keep the ice off my guides, thaw my reel, or feel my fingers, the fishing was great! I picked the coldest day of the week to get out, but hey I was still on the water.
I was able to fish my new Sage TCX rod in a 9' 5wt and it seemed to be great. It was hard to tell due to the conditions but I really liked it. I was fishing a normal nymph rig with one split shot and it handled it all well. I really like the weight of the rod in my hands. It feels like it will be the "go-to" rod for the all day casting excursions when lighter is better. It had a good butt section and although the fish aren't as hot this time of year, a few of them put up a pretty good fight and the rod had plenty in it to get them to hand (although I was really trying not to get my hands wet). I had a smile on my face, that was partial paralisis from the cold but it was a smile nonetheless. I got a call this afternoon extending an invite to try again tomorrow and I was in.
I'm hoping to get a chance to fish a little more and de-ice a little less, but we'll see how it goes. I have the same rod in a 6wt that I really want to throw some streamers with while we float.
I'll post after the day with some comments and hopefully some great pictures that don't include frostbite!
