It's been quite a while since I wrote anythign here. I guess that's probably because I don't seem to get any comments and I already know what happened! Oh well, I guess this is more self therapeutic than I had hoped.
I've had a great year so far. I've had the opportunity to chase elk with my bow for quite a few days in a couple of states. Unfortunately to this point it has been an excercise in futility! I love being around those things though and when they are screaming at you it is an amazing experience regardless of the outcome. I had a good bull working one eve that just didn't want to come out of the trees. He was screaming at me and moving around as I was calling and the rain started to come down. There I was with rain drenching me, the lightning flashing above and a bull screaming at me. It was one of the coolest nights of my hunting even though I never was able to get him to close the distance.
I was able to arrow a whitetail this year at 4yds! I am totally convinced that utilizing the entire scent elimination system is crucial. From washing my clothes in the product to showering and using the products in the shower to the spray in the field. It really works! There is no way that thing would've come in the way it did if I didn't take the precautions. It was really cool!
I was also able to go out with my daughter on another amazing hunt. We were able to find a good deer and make a good stalk. After making a few moves and waiting for a bunch of does to move away from us the buck showed himself. He was moving out with the does and stopped just long enough for her to make another great shot. Her patience and nerves of steel are great. Take a look at the deer and see what you think! After her nice mule deer, I was able to take my best whitetail to date. Again, it was a great day. The sights, smell and feel of the hunt seem to be burned into the memory. And I was able to spend some great time with my daughter with no phones, tv or anything to distract us and take away from some great quality time together. We are going to go out tomorrow to see if we can find some elk and make it all happen again. I'm sure regardless of the outcome it will be another day for the memory cache!
I hope you all are getting out and enjoying the great things that have been given to us. I am truly a lucky person to be able to pursue the things that I enjoy with my kids now and hopefully they will remember these days for the rest of their lives.
